Why see Leonid and Friends?

The Greatest Chicago Tribute

Hitting the road in North America this year is Leonid and Friends, the YouTube sensation tribute band to Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire and others, from Eastern Europe! Despite never having seen Chicago live (they never toured to band leader Leonid Vorobyev's home country of Russia), the group became a global hit for their stunning recreation of the music of the legendary American soft-rockers.

Vorobyev, a sound engineer and choir conductor at the East Siberian Institute of Culture, described the difficulties of coming across amplified instruments and music back in 1970s USSR, so discovering bands such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple and, of course, Chicago, turned his world upside-down. After gathering some friends together to learn Chicago's 'Brand New Love Affair' and film themselves playing, the video blew up and became a viral sensation. Now, having sold out tours across the US and around the world, Leonid and Friends are back for another celebration of the music of the 70s!

What an amazing performance! The sound was perfectly mixed at our seats. Every performer was at the top of their game. The horns were a wonderful wall of sound, with the sax player so enthusiastically charging up the crowd. All four singers sounded great even after 40 or so shows. Ksenia blew us away with her vocal range and stage presence. Just a thoroughly entertaining night! ... Read more

Stellar. Not perfect

Second time seeing the group and they were still good, but not as good. The sound system had some problems and they miss the original lead singer who is a Peter Cetera clone vocally. All that the show was still good. Accomplished musicians top to bottom and the vocals were fairly solid. Worth seeing. ... Read more
